The paradise I left
My friend Melissa (who works at the [best place to put your servers in North America](http://www.peer1.net/) ) sent me these this morning in response to a request for some pretty Vancouver pictures.
This one is taken from her apartment, looking across Burrard Inlet to the CBD. The building directly to the left of the one with the white stripe on it is Harbour Centre, where the second picture is taken from. The little white boxy dot thing to the immediate left of where the rainbow touches the water is the Seabus, a little passenger ferry that takes a 20 minute trip from the CBD to North Vancouver. You can take busses over the bridges too, but it’s not as fun. As Douglas Coupland might say, it’s a Vancouver thing; the Seabus is a way to appreciate and pay homage to the water that surrounds us on three sides.

The second picture is from her office (!) looking down at the oddly empty cruise ship terminal (somewhat reminiscent of some building in Sydney, but not as beautiful) and across Burrard Inlet the other way, back to where the first picture was taken. From left to right, the mountains are the Lions, Grouse Mountain and Mount Seymour. The greyish diagonal stripe on Grouse Mountain is a ski run, one of the most picturesque ones I’ve ever been on – especially at night. I’m guessing this was taken in the Spring sometime, since there’s still some snow on the mountain tops.Image unavailable.
