Justifications
\* Buying a new camera will kick in Murphy’s Law, and the old camera will magically reappear.
* It was A$200 off! Before the discount, I didn’t even consider it because it was well out of my price range.
* Five point one mega frikkin pixels! (The old camera was 2.0).
* It’s lovely red and shiny.
* Wicked cool flash-the-scene-with-a-red-light feature that I can’t see the reason for.
* Cute Japanese startup sound.
* The old camera was starting to break a bit, and I was thinking of getting a new one anyway. Perhaps not this soon though …
Yes, well, okay. I went and did it. I was there to have a look-see of the new DSC-L1 to see how it compares to the other camera I was considering, the FinePix F10. I found the L1 in a display case in the shop, and while I was looking over the specs, I saw another camera in the next case over. It was on sale for $200 off regular price. It was a better camera, and cheaper. Hello? More megapixels, better features, etc etc. And cheaper. So I went and bought a bright red Sony DSC-P100.
So far, so good. I like it.
