New Year
One of the more interesting things about moving from the west coast of Canada to the east coast of Australia is the who day things. Once the day reaches Vancouver, pretty much everyone else (except Hawaii and maybe parts of Alaska) have had their way with it. It’s old and tired. On the other hand, the east coast of Australia is one of the first places to get a new day (only New Zealand and some little islands in the Pacific are before us). So we’ll be among the first to get 2007. If you’re at all curious, gentle reader, to find out what 2007 is like, you’re welcome to ring me.
One of the side-effects to getting the new year before most of the rest of the planet is the fact that we’re getting rid of the old one before most of the rest of the planet, too. Today here is ’s Eve, so the newspaper is full of these best-of and year wrap-up stories. In fine form, the team from The Chaser has a column in The Age where they do their own year-in-review . Funny stuff. Odd that it doesn’t mention the times that members of their troupe got arrested…
