I just love watching Sensis flail about

It looks like they might have actually done the first smart thing in a long time. [They’ve given up.](http://www.theage.com.au/news/technology/biztech/sensis-concedes-defeat-to-google/2008/11/03/1225560716428.html) Years after launching <http://sensis.com.au/> as “The Search Engine for Australians”, they’ve finally realised that Australians, along with the rest of the world, are quite happy with Google, thank you very much. I could have told them this three years ago, and saved them a bunch of money. Oh well.

In exchange for Google providing maps and search results to Sensis, Sensis will provide their somewhat-okay Yellow Pages listings to Google, for inclusion in their search results. Up until now, those listings were provided by TrueLocal — a News Limited company, and a former client of ours. Much of their revenue, and a large number of their page views, came from Google, and it was this “special relationship” with the search and advertising giant that largely kept them going (philosophically, if not financially).

Heads will roll at TrueLocal.
