Twitter and "celebrities"

If you don’t want to watch it, it’s an amusing bit about “celebrities” and their followings on Twitter.  Here’s what I replied with (slightly edited):

There are *far* too many “celebrities” on there. But I’m mostly ignoring them - they tend not to have anything to say that I care about - and they usually don’t reply or converse. I think that’s the interesting thing about Twitter as a social medium though: you can choose and build your own network, which is a unique thing, personalised to your own tastes. I’m not much interested in the whole celebrity thing, so I don’t follow many. For me, it’s about the conversation, not the broadcast.
