A Vision of Students Today

Dinna at @infoxchange sent me this video, created by Michael Wesch in collaboration with 200 students at Kansas State University. They worked through the creative process by attacking a Google Docs document, and produced this video as the end-result. It’s nothing I didn’t already know on some level, but having all these facts together in one place brought a certain amount of perspective to the situation.

I’ve always been interested in the culture of technology. When I was about 15 or so, I found a book (now out of print) called “Disappearing Through the Skylight: Culture and Technology in the Twentieth Century” by O.B. Hardison Jr. If memory serves, in it, he talks about how technology drives the culture that drives the technology - it’s a kind of feedback loop that drives technological and cultural change.
