Pen v keyboard v Newton v Graffiti v Treo v iPhone

Very interesting comparison between the text-entry speeds of various devices (including a pen and paper). While it’s not exactly a scientific study, the results were interesting, and not what I expected. You can bet that Apple (and other makers of devices with alternative text-entry methods) did loads of this kind of testing before releasing their devices.
An interesting tidbit: He noticed that his thumbnails were getting in the way of typing on the Treo, so he cut them off - he ended up entering text 13% faster. I find this as well on my MacBook Pro’s keyboard. When my fingernails are freshly cut, I type noticeably quicker.
