Not in MY backyard

A group of downtown Vancouver residents is trying to stop plans to build several new high-rise apartment blocks in the city’s West End.

For those unaware, Vancouver’s West End is one of the most densely populated areas of North America - it’s virtually all residential towers. I really like it - it’s an excellent use of space, and the shape of the land ensures that everyone is close to some form of recreation.

The linked story is one of the worst examples of NIMBY-ism I’ve seen. Roughly translated, there’s a group of whingers who don’t want any more apartment blocks built in the backyards of their apartment blocks.

Attention: You live in a CITY. That’s where tall buildings happen. Get over it, or move to Delta.
