Unthinkable futures

While hunting in my [Kevin Kelly’s] archives for something else I dug up this exercise in scenarios. It was a small game Brian Eno and I played to loosen up our expectations of what might happen in the near future. We were both struck at how improbable current events would be to anyone in the past, and how incapable we are at expecting the improbable in the future.

Aside from the initial fanboi reaction “OMG OMG OMG Kevin Kelly plays small games with BRIAN ENO!!!!1111!!1!!!!”, this is a great article. They go back and forth, predicting events that would change the future world in improbable ways. Some are funny, some frightening, but they’re all thought-provoking.
