Half a tunnel

Five new stations - including an underground rail station at North Melbourne - are part of the Brumby government’s new $10 billion transport plan.

I can’t believe that they’re actually going ahead and building half a tunnel. The original reason why a new tunnel was recommended was to relieve pressure on the City Loop by allowing trains to bypass it completely. The tunnel was meant to connect Footscray and Caulfield, and trains would run from one end of the city to the other. If the tunnel stops under the Domain, what’s the point? It will be underused and useless, until it’s actually completed - which won’t happen anytime soon.

Built it all, or not at all.
